Eteri (mother, 30 years old): "My beloved child Ilia is sick! Because of constant hunger, I feel like he's losing interest in life! It hurts me so much! He's starting to develop a severe mental illness. He's talking more and more about death! And he's just a child! He shouldn't even know that word. A single visit to the doctor costs 700 lari”. I'm ready to give my life just to see my children fully fed and without stomach pains even once. They are my everything! How can it be that this little angel, Eva, came into this world only to go hungry all the time? Her stomach hurts so much from hunger that she can't even sleep!" This is food for a day for six people! Even during the war with the fascists, people weren't fed like this! This is the daily ration for four children and their two parents! The key is to divide the egg into six parts so that no one feels left out!

How can it be that this little angel, Eva, came into this world only to go hungry all the time? Her stomach hurts so much from hunger that she can't even sleep!

This is food for a day for six people! Even during the war with the fascists, people weren't fed like this! This is the daily ration for four children and their two parents! The key is to divide the egg into six parts so that no one feels left out!

Eteri (mother, 30 years old): The problems of my family are similar to the hundreds of stories of unfortunate families that I have read on your Fund's website. Perhaps we exist to show all of Georgia how we are not considered human beings! To tell how hard it is for many of us.

My husband used to work as a shepherd, and we didn't go hungry. But now, with a broken leg, he spends most of his time in bed! God, help us! We have no one else but the friends of the Fund!

– Dear mother, can I talk to the children please?

Ilia (9-year-old): I need a TV more than anything else in the world! I don't even dream about clothes and a bike!

Elene (7-year-old): And I want a TV too... But I want a cutlet even more! A small one at least! Just remembered and tears started flowing... I'm a good girl! I'll stop crying now.

– I'll definitely ask you after I talk to your mom, okay?

Eteri: They're deprived of everything. They haven't even seen a normal life... my poor darlings...

Maintaining such a house clean is very difficult, especially when you have many children. But being poor doesn't mean you can live like pigs. I always tell the children that our clothes are not new, but they should always be clean... So, I spend whole days either cleaning or doing laundry... until my hands are raw.

"When you're very hungry, you can't even fall asleep, but you want to lie down all the time."

– What can our Fund do for you to make you feel like human beings?

Eteri: "I'm asking you for food. We need medications for Ilia, also we need a refrigerator, beds for the children, and a wardrobe. If you could also give us a gas stove and a washing machine - we will live like human beings.

Elene: Mooooom, you forgot about the TV (starts crying)

- Elene, don't cry, I didn't forget, it's already noted down! Now tell me, what else do you want besides the TV?

Elene: I want cutlets, cutlets. And toys. For myself, Ilia, and Sandra! Just don't want a bald doll. And everyone needs bikes! All the kids ride them... And we don't!

Friends, how easy it is to make four Georgian children and their parents happy! And how terrible it is to be humiliated by hunger and poverty! Who will our children grow up to be? And they're ours! How will they love their homeland if it's so cruel to them! God gave us the opportunity to always remember the unfortunate and to care for them always and forever! Then we are God's people. Because God is love!

This family is just one example of many families suffering from hunger and poverty in Georgia. Their story reminds us that justice and compassion should be the basis of our society. We cannot remain indifferent to their suffering. Four little angels have not known a better life. They have never had a home of their own, they do not know what it means to live in safety. The children are starving, they have no toys, and their mom and dad can barely make ends meet. Every morning when they wake up, they expect the world around them to change. But alas, it remains the same gray ... Yet, it's within our power to give these little ones a normal childhood. It's within our power to change their world. Children should not have to eat scraps!

Friends, I urge you not to be indifferent. As you can see, the Niparishvili family is living in extreme poverty. We cannot ignore their plight! They need food, furniture, appliances, clothing, and medications. Let's help, show compassion, give these children a chance to live decently. Let each of us imagine that these could be our children, who are underfed, sleeping on rickety beds in a cold house.
